A global online charity event entitled “Peace, Love, and Hope for Karabakh” was held on May 22 & 23, 2021, and was premiered on www.forkarabakh.com and the For Karabakh Facebook page. It was organized by the For Karabakh community of Azerbaijani artists, musicians, writers, poets, and friends of Azerbaijan living in various countries worldwide. Musicians and cultural figures came together to share their gifts and talents for the cause. Among them: Leilali, Richards Lapaitis, Dace Strauss from Latvia, Luis Dodds, Elchin Shirinov, Sabina Rakcheyeva, Nazrin Rashidova from Great Britain, Etibar Asadli, Saida Zulfugarova, Renara Akhundova from France, Elnara Ismayilova and Boric Bloch from Germany, Galib Hasan Mammadov and Skruk choir from Norway, Han Beyli, Nargiz Aliyarova, Emil and Leyla Afrasiyab, Ruslan Agababayev, My Way dance group from the US, Elgun Guliyev and Naila Ahmedova from Turkey, Vusala Yusif from Oman and many others.
Among participants from the US were the late pianist, Chingiz Sadikhov’s wife Jeyran Sadykhova, and the daughter of the great Muslim Magomayev, Marina Magomayeva.
The event’s goal was to fundraise money for mental health therapy for post-war trauma victims in Azerbaijan, including families of fallen soldiers, soldiers injured in the Karabakh war. Donations were collected through the 501c non-profit charity organization called “For Azerbaijan.”
The project was funded by the Azerbaijan-American Medical Association and the US Azerbaijanis Network (USAN). The Azerbaijan-American Medical Association is an organization that brings together Azerbaijani and American doctors in the United States and around the world.
The US Azerbaijanis Network (USAN) is the largest grassroots advocacy and voter education organization set up by and for the Azerbaijani American voters in 2007.
The organization committee of the event consisted of representatives from the Azerbaijan Society of Maine, Baku-Houston Twin Cities Association, Florida-Azerbaijan Cultural Society, “My Way” – Child Development Center, Congress of American Azerbaijani Societies, British-Azerbaijani Society, Israel- Azerbaijan International Association(AZIZ), as well as the French-Azerbaijani Dialogue Association.
